In an attempt ot make the K ration more inviting to the Infantry the thought was that if the packaging was more interesting the soldiers would enjoy their meals more.
Although the meal contents stayed the same pre the release of this new packaging in 1944 the outer casing had 3 individual designs and colours to make them look more attractive!
Red for breakfast
Blue for Dinner
Green for supper
Making each meal easily identifiable.
This is where it gets interesting as a reenactor. These boxes were only put in to production in May 1944, so maybe could have reached the troops for D Day. But from my research i can only find pictures with the brown boxes i make. These are in a seperate listing and are made by Crackerjack or Patten Foods.
You will recieve these boxes flat pack with 50g of parafin wax. The inner cartons were waxed to protect the contents, so if your looking to make authentic boxes i include this as well.
Excellent high quality machine printing and die pressing on the card make these units easy to fold and glue together. You will receive 3 inners and outers to complete one day of food for an american soldier.
